Salmon fisher and elder in the tiny First Nations community of Port Lostcoast, Archie Ravenwing has gone missing and is presumed drowned in a storm in the Broughton Archipelago. Cole Blackwater heads to his memorial, and while he’s there they discover Archie’s boat, and suddenly everything isn’t as it seemed. Was Archie murdered? The Bow Valley Naturalists are programming a series this year focussing on what are known as High Elevation Localized Species (HELS). David Hik, renowned biologist in the department of biological sciences at the University of Alberta, was the first to speak to the crowd about this topic. He shared the results of his long-term research project on collared pikas and hoary marmots in the Yukon.
