Fire suppression has left local forests unnaturally dense and led to grasslands being lost. This presents a potentially dangerous wildfire situation to our national park communities. Innovative, low-impact forest thinning around our commmunities and other important locations has reduced the risk of loss from wildfire, while helping to restore ecosystems.
